From his early days at the Apollo Theater to his profound impact on the music industry, Sekyiwa Shakur tearfully shared the significance of this recognition for her older brother's legacy. The Walk of Fame had selected Tupac to receive a star in 2013, but the date was determined by the family and estate.

Tupac Shakur received the 2,758th star on the Walk of Fame, coinciding with his upcoming birthday on June 16.

The unveiling not only pays tribute to his contributions to music but also highlights the lasting impact he has had on the world. Sekyiwa emphasized that the ceremony honored not just a star in the ground but also the relentless pursuit of Tupac's dreams and the passion he poured into his work.

As one of the most influential figures in hip-hop, Tupac Shakur tragically passed away in 1996 at the age of 25 from gunshot wounds. Although his music career spanned only five years, he sold over 75 million records worldwide and released the critically acclaimed album "All Eyez on Me," featuring hit songs like "California Love (Remix)," "I Ain't Mad at Cha," and "How Do U Want It." In 2017, he was posthumously inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.

Beyond music, Tupac showcased his talent as an actor in popular films such as "Poetic Justice," "Gang Related," "Juice," and "Above the Rim." His artistry transcended boundaries, intertwining with activism and inspiring exhibits like "Tupac Shakur. Wake Me When I'm Free" and "All Eyez on Me" at the Grammy Museum.

The ceremony was filled with notable guests, including comedian Mike Epps, rapper YG, actor Bokeem Woodbine, and the Outlawz, a rap group founded by Tupac Shakur. Attendees enthusiastically chanted Tupac's name and played his iconic hits throughout the event.

Reflecting on Tupac's legacy, Allen Hughes, director of the FX documentary "Dear Mama: The Saga of Afeni and Tupac Shakur," acknowledged him as a global symbol of rebellion and an inspiration to activists today.

The documentary explores Tupac's mother's involvement in the Black Panther Party and delves into his journey as a political visionary and one of the greatest rap artists of all time.

Hughes concluded the ceremony by remarking on the worldwide resonance of Tupac's message and celebrated the achievements of a young Black boy from Harlem.
