UK influencer Andrew Tate indicted on rape and human trafficking charges in Romania, reported AFP.
Tate, aged 36, became the subject of an investigation by Romanian authorities in April 2022 following allegations of his involvement in the captivity of two women, one of whom was an American citizen.
After several months, Tate was apprehended in Bucharest, Romania, where he was initially charged with human trafficking.
At that time, news outlets reported that six victims had been identified. According to a statement by DIICOT, the victims allegedly endured "physical violence and mental coercion."
Over the course of several months, the court has repeatedly extended Tate's 30-day sentence by an additional 30 days, with the extensions occurring every 30 days from the end of December until last Friday.
On each occasion, Tate has appealed the decision, but until last Friday, his requests have been denied by the judge.
Tate gained recognition for his career in professional kickboxing, but he also gained notoriety for his presence on social media platforms, where he made sexist and hateful comments.
Consequently, he has been banned from platforms such as Facebook and Instagram.
